Students: lost your SOLISid account password?
Lost solis-id or solis-password
Your cs.uu.nl account
You can read the account policy on
the web: Gebruiksvoorwaarden account (Nederlandstalig)
or Account policies (English)
Your account has two passwords (one for Unix services and one for Windows
services), they are set to the same initial (random generated) password
when your account is generated.
Your Unix password
The unix password is also known as 'ldap' password because we use ldap
as storage for unix account data.
The following systems use your unix password: all linux workstations, the bscw server, fetching e-mail via imap, access to your personal data in the staff pages.
You can change your unix password with the passwd
command on a unix
prompt of a machine using ldap (for example shell.cs.uu.nl). The
command will ask for your old password and twice for your new password. The
command verifies whether the password is strong enough according
to certain rules (long enough, enough letters and other characters).
Your Windows password
The following systems use your windows password: all windows workstations.
You can change your windows password by pressing ctrl-alt-del in your
logged-in windows session and selecting Change password
If you forget your unix or windows password
No current policy.
Termination of your cs.uu.nl account
Termination of your account, staff members
When you leave the department, as an employee or a guest,
we want to close your account as soon as possible,
Of course we allow for a grace period, depending on your
particular circumstances.
A month before you actually leave the department, please send an email to helpdesk@cs.uu.nl, stating
Your files are archived and saved for 2 years after which they are wiped
from our systems.
Fullname changes
Should you require a change of the fullname linked to your account, get in
touch with the helpdesk.
Solis-ID
Every student and employee at Utrecht University has a
Solis-ID and password.
For employees, the solis_id is something generated, related to their last name.
For students, the solis-id is linked to their studentnumber.
Central systems can be accessed using solis_is/passwd, most notably Solis-mail (another e-mail system) and Osiris (student information) for students.
In some places you have to use the long version of your solis_id :
solis_id@soliscom.uu.nl
Informatie over de solis-ugids (in Dutch)
Informatie over solis-id en wachtwoord (in Dutch)
Informatie over solis-mail (in Dutch)
You can view the connected person directory via
Solis-Ugids.
Changing your Solis password
Visit the website Solis-Ugids and select eigen gegevens (own data) which allows you to login
first using your old password and then start the changing procedure using
Wachtwoord wijzigen (change password).
If you forget your solis-ID or password
Go to the science servicedesk on the 5th floor with your Collegekaart or
other photo ID. They can reset your password.
