BSCW shared workspace server

BSCW is used by several courses at the computer science department as an electronic learning environment.

Logging in to bscw

BSCW for staff members uses your cs.uu.nl username and your unix password.

BSCW for students uses your solisid and password.

Your first login to bscw and having the right access

Course websites will link directly to the correct folder in BSCW. On your first login, this will give an error because your access is not set up correctly. Access rights in BSCW are synchronized regularly with course-data from Osiris, so try again 30 minutes later.

Quota in bscw

There is a limit to the amount of space you can use in BSCW. Stuff left in your clipboard and trash count towards your quota.

Setting up a project yourself in BSCW

You can create a folder in BSCW and invite other people to participate in that folder. Inviting people that are not already registered in the BSCW system is not allowed: send mail to bscwadmin@cs.uu.nl to request the invitation (quoting the e-mail address of the person you want invited).

BSCW for teachers

Get in touch with bscwadmin@cs.uu.nl to use BSCW in a course. Adding students that have registered for a course (via Osiris) is fully automated, and we have extra tools to divide students in a course into working groups.
