Databases

There are database servers for education and/or research purposes. We have standardized on Postgres. These databases can also be used from web applications.

As databases are almost always 'custom', get in touch with us with your request. What we like to know for such a request:

• Preferred name for the database
• Which hosts should be able to access it, such as staff or student PCs, webserver, lab systems. Outside access will be via VPN only.
• What username/usernames you want for access. For example when a webapplication will have an account which can do limited damage.
• How long you will need the database.
