Get the client from: VPN client for Windows download
At this moment, 64-bit Windows support is only available as a BETA version.

Also: there is no Windows Mobile support which is also not expected.

Windows Vista Home Basic and Home Premium versions and Windows 7 Starter and Home Premium versions will not allow you to enter 'domain' login credentials so you will NOT be able to access your homedirectory or web filespace over VPN from 'Home' versions of Windows (according to Microsoft this is 'Business' functionality).

The IS version is the installshield version where you have to use the programs own uninstaller to deinstall it, the MSI version is the Microsoft installer version where you can remove the program using add/remove programs. On current versions, the preference is for the MSI version.

As administrator, start the installation program and follow the instructions for installing it. If you get an error code -2146500093 during the installation, remove registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DevicePath (see http://www.deterministicnetworks.com/Products/dne311.asp for details).

The client will need a profile to connect to the VPN server. This profile contains information on how to connect to the VPN server.

The profile can only be found when you are logged in at computer science. Staff users can find the profile at windows path \\netshare\projects\vpn\Solis-VPN.pcf and copy it to the intended client system (for example: mail it to yourself, copy it to a USB drive). Students can find the profile at windows path \\netshare\projects\vpn\Solis-VPN.pcf On the Windows client, use the menu Connection Entries and select Import ... to import the profile into your VPN client. You can then use Connect to connect using this profile. You will need to login using your Solis-ID and password.

After connecting, you can use your home directory (what you normally see as H:\ from windows explorer.

Printing for staff members
Only useful if you are in the building the printer is but still use VPN. Don't print stuff you are not going to pick up. Save those trees.

Select "Add printer", select "Connect to a printer on the Internet..." and add the printerqueue as http://printserver.cs.uu.nl:631/printers/printername (replace printername with your favourite queue). Select the appropiate driver. Look at our printing page for available printers and drivers to select.
